DuoShield™ Chelated Iron
Chelated core. Two shields. Ferrous bisglycinate, wrapped in a liposomal layer and a sucrose-ester (sucrester) layer, designed for gentle daily iron.
Explore the range How it worksWhat is DuoShield™ Chelated Iron?
DuoShield™ Chelated Iron is our delivery technology for iron. It builds three levels of protection around each iron particle, so every product in the Ferrova™ range starts from the same carefully designed base.
- Chelated ferrous bisglycinate core
- Liposomal layer
- Sucrester layer
Chelated core
Iron is supplied as ferrous bisglycinate, where each iron atom is bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. This chelated form has been studied in human trials, including meals that contain dietary inhibitors of iron absorption.
Liposomal layer
The iron is enclosed in a liposomal coating made from phospholipids, the same family of fats found in cell membranes. It is designed to keep iron away from direct contact with the stomach lining.
Sucrester layer
A final sucrose-ester (sucrester) coating surrounds the liposomal layer. It is designed to add protection and keep the particles stable until they reach the intestine, where iron is absorbed.
The statements above describe how the technology is designed to work. They are not a promise of individual results. Each product is intended for use under healthcare professional guidance.

Some minerals, such as calcium, can compete with iron. Check the labels of your other products and ask your pharmacist if you are unsure.
